Albino

   Since last few years In discus magazines we can see articles abort Albino discus. In years 2008-2009 at the Fairs in Asia Albino Discus was separated group. Obviously I couldn’t be indifferent for these and some time ago I have introduced these fish to my breeding farm.

   Albino discus are without dark pigment – melanin. When I look at the pictures at the different websites and in my breeding I can see that this young “race”is very veriety. Pure 100% Albino Discus is devoid of melanin and has red eye. Some speciemen has red eye other has dark eye (retina). At the bird breeders this situation is clear – there are two different groups – albino and lutino. But I didn’t send these at the discus breeding so all these fish are now albino.

   Since now this young “race” I very difficult to breed. Albino discus has more less young ones, there is more weak and degenerated fish. Young after spawning are only e few. But all is in front of us an I hope these beautiful fish permanently will live in our tanks.
